Hey everyone, this weeks article is going to be a very basic tutorial on how we at http://www.sudogrizzlygents.com configure the Amazon Fire Stick to be able to run Kodi.
As with every installation, you’ll have to read some information. If you’re new to the software, check the company’s website for additional details. If you’re looking for an exhaustive step-by-step tutorial and want to set it up quickly, watch out for the preparation steps first:Streaming can be punishable by law, so make sure you use a VPN service, such as IP Vanish. Covering your identity will make the best out of your viewing experience. You can check out which of the I’ve had IP Vanish for going on a year now and love the serviceBut first, you will have to tweak a few options in the Settings. You will have to enable and disable a couple of options on your Fire TV. In the Settings, you have a My Fire TV / Device icon.
When you click on it, you’ll choose Device or My Fire TV (in case you have the Fire TV Cube).
Choose the Developer Options.
Enable ADB debugging option.
Turn on the Apps from Unknown Sources section.
A warning windows will pop up, go ahead and authorize the change.
Next go to Settings> Preferences > Privacy Settings. And turn off Device Usage Data
ATTENTION:ATTENTION: USE A VPN TO PROTECT YOUR VIEWING BEHAVIORATTENTION: ISPs and governments regularly track their users’ online behavior. If the users are found streaming copyrighted content on your Fire TV device, you could potentially get into a trouble. Your IP is visible to everyone unless you use a solid VPN service. I strongly recommend you to get the best VPN for FireTV devices and mask your identity/IP so that your streaming and viewing experience isn’t tracked by your ISP. Using a VPN is perfectly legal and safe. I use IP VANISH which is the fastest and most secure VPN in the industry. It is very easy to install a VPN on any device including Amazon Fire TV Stick. Also, it comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you don’t like their service, you can always ask for a refund.
BACK TO THE INSTALL…
There’s plenty of different ways to install Kodi on a an Amazon Fire stick, no method is better than the other it’s really just preference. For the sake of everyone that’s a a first time DIY’er let’s continue using the most commonly used in these types of tutorials.
Get the download APP through the Amazon App Store.
Direct Downloader to the Kodi website.
Here is one of many URL to use is http://www.kodi.tv/download, but you can use other sources, if you prefer. I like to stay within the developers main website.
The Fire TV’s operating system is an Android branch, so the Kodi Android app will work just fine.
Choose the 32-bit installation.
Ive ran both 32 and 64 bit. Personally 32 has worked best or my application this may not be the case for you.
You can also use this screen to review Kodi’s permissions.
9. Customize Kodi to your liking.
Now you have Kodi 18 Leia installed on your Fire Stick. Congratulations! Remember Kodi is just the bare application it wont have anything on it when you first install it. You will need to add repos, add ons, buttons and essentially build your own custom media center.
Next week we will take you a little further down the rabbit hole and walk you through one of our favorite Kodi builds.
Here’s some of the hardware and software we use on a day to day basis. Some are discounted up to 50% and your purchases help us continue to develop products directed at encouraging young boys and girls to seek interest in math and computer science as well as bring you more awsome articles and fun DIY projects.
